A divorce can have positive outcomes

While divorce often comes with countless problems and stress for New York couples, there are some positive things to keep in mind that may bring a little bit of calm after the storm. Women and men deal with divorce in very different ways, yet both can experience positive growth through the process.

Statistics show that divorce proceedings are initiated about twice as often by women rather than men. This means that women tend to be more confident in the decision to separate, making the process somewhat more bearable. In spite of the greater adjustments, men tend to remarry sooner than women, abiding by the ‘try, try again’ mindset. Additionally, when it comes to divorce proceedings, men tend to devote more energy toward salvaging the marriage if possible. Finally, studies indicate that partial custody of children leads men to be better parents both overall and in the long term. They tend to be more involved in their children’s lives and agree upon child support when they get to see their children regularly.
