Important Update on Family Court in New York
Here are a few updates on Family Court in New York.
Child Support
Family Court in Manhattan, Kings and Bronx Counties are now accepting support modification Petitions, motions and requests by email or U.S mail addressed to the appropriate court. The date of contact with the Court and postmark will be recorded.
Custody and Visitation Mediation
After screening for domestic violence and any active child protective proceedings , the Jurist will refer a mediator who will reach out to the parties and counsel to schedule virtual mediation sessions.
Virtual Court
NYC, Kings County and Bronx Family Court are now open in Virtual Courtrooms for settlement and brief hearings. The primary function will be:
- To resolve cases where an allocution by Skype or teleconference is necessary;
- In cases involving youths in detention; and
- To take limited testimony in emergency hearings.
